Caledonia TTBB & SSA

I am not a trained musician so some of the harmonies may not be ‘conventional’ and not quite what might be expected but I just create music that sounds OK to me, whether technically right or wrong is not something I concern myself about. If there is something glaring that causes you a problem feel free to let me know. I am always ready to learn even at my age! I also appreciate reasonable criticism, good or bad.

I have created a PDF file that you can download for the full score and MID (MIDI) files you can import. There are also MP3 files so you can hear what it is like. These do NOT perhaps give the best impression as there are no vocals – just the melody of the part as Choir Ahs.
The score may appear to be heavy on the slurs but I am using them as they are intended, to indicate the measures (bars) that should be should be sung in one breath. The phrasing of this song can be a little tricky. Here I have tried to reproduce the original phrasing used by Dougie MacLean and that tends not to be the same as various other artists/artistes/groups that have done covers of his song. I have also used the lyrics of the original thus a popular version “I have kissed the girls/lads, and I’ve left them crying, stolen dreams…” is back to “Well I have tried and I’ve kept on trying, and I’ve stolen dreams….”

If your choir decides to sing this arrangement I would very much appreciate you mentioning it in the comments, and possibly even providing a link to a You-Tube video?

Enjoy!

Beautiful Iran

The more I get to see of Iran the more I realise what a terrible shame it would be for this beautiful country to be bombed to bits. I also understand that it is not all like that however. It is a shame for any country to suffer that, and yes Iraq also lost a massive amount of history as well - I am aware of that.

Don't let this happen again

America needs to stop driving us on to destruction with it's sanctions, especially those over and above the UN agreed ones.

Mantra of World Citizenship

Derived from (and slightly adapted): Above Top Secret

Many thanks to the OP.

The 10 line mantra of world citizenship [The 10 commandments]

I will not believe in conspiracy theories any longer.
I will listen to what the media tells me for the media only speaks the truth.
I will respect every action that the governments takes.
I will follow all instructions given to me and follow orders without questioning why.
I will never think outside of the box because there is no outside of the box, it's all make believe.
The only reality is what they tell me, and they are always right.
I do not enjoy privacy and will never keep secrets.
My personal life is an open book to show that I am a good citizen and have nothing to hide.
I know the government has my best interests in mind, therefore I trust them completely.
I know that I am polluting the environment and will accept the introduction of personal carbon credits without objection.

A Biker's Prayer

A Biker's Prayer

Lord, hear the lively engine roar
As I hit the road once more
Breathe the wind upon my face
As I gather up the pace
Make the surge of power give
Reason to the life I live
Doing all the things I like
Riding on my motor bike

Lord, guard me as I travel out
For the dreaded car watch out
Give the driver sense to see
It is a bike, it's really me
Keep me too from being rude
And lifting fingers very crude
Give me grace and sense to stop
Before my eyelids really drop

Know me Lord for what I am
A biker brash and not a lamb
Forgive me if I fail to think
Prevent me riding if I drink
Bring me safe back home at last
And Lord I know I shouldn't ask
But help me live now, if I may
To ride with you another day.

'Goodnight' poem

Goodnight

Sleep the sleep of mortals
In the slumberland of dreams
And open up the portals
To the land of Kings and Queens
Listen to the fairies laugh
And hear the harebells peel
Walk the soft and rambling path
Between the golden fields
Dream of what you want to be
And where you want to go
Of the beautiful green valley
And of mountains capped with snow
And when your wandering wondering soul
From slumber must return
And leave the wooded watering hole
As dawn's faint light doth burn
Come gently back with love in mind
For all your kith and kin
With care enough for all mankind
And harmony within.
